Stand in the middle of the Sonora Desert as the sun is setting in a brilliant sky of blues and oranges and you have a perfect scene for a pictorial quilt.
This quilt does not have borders but could easily be added (just remember to increase the batting and backing). Also, an artist binding is suggested; you can view my tutorial "5 Tested Ways to Easily Finish Your Creative Art Quilt" to learn the technique. On the other hand, a traditional binding works too!

What the kit includes:
- The pattern “Saguaro Sunset”
- Enough fabric to make the quilt top (backing, binding and batting not included). Note the foreground and cactus are from the same black.
Please note that is occasionally fabric goes out of print and a close substitute is required. At this time, a few substitutions (oranges) have been made but the overall integrity of the kit’s fabric remains the same as the sample.
- Wonder Under fusible web -3 yards
- Vinyl (clear plastic)-You can purchase this in the home decorating area of your local craft store (students have told me Walmart carries it too). If you don’t have one close by you, clear cellophane wrap works too (it’s just not as sturdy).
- Backing and (artist) binding- 1 1/4 yard
- Batting - 40” x 43”
